Choose Your School

K–8 School

Our K–8 School serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade through a structured and supportive online learning experience.

Certified teachers, facilitators, mentors, and families work together to help students build strong academic foundations and remain engaged.

A parent or guardian must be prepared to serve as the student’s educational partner and provide regular support at home.

Adult School

Our Adult School serves learners age 17 and older who are working toward high school diploma completion.

The program provides flexible online access designed to fit around work, family, childcare, and other responsibilities.

Adult learners are expected to communicate regularly, manage their time responsibly, and maintain consistent academic progress.

What You May Need

Enrollment requirements vary by school and individual circumstances. Having the following information ready can help prevent delays.

For K–8 Students
  • Student and parent or guardian information
  • Proof of age and residency
  • Previous report cards or school records
  • Withdrawal documentation, when applicable
  • Individualized Education Program or Section 504 documents, when applicable
  • A parent, guardian, or responsible adult must also agree to serve as the student’s educational partner.
For Adult Learners
  • Personal identification and contact information
  • Proof of age and residency
  • Transcripts from previously attended schools
  • Information needed to confirm program eligibility

Previous academic records help the school determine which credits have already been earned and which requirements remain for diploma completion.

Technology Readiness

Because Tennessee River Virtual Academy is an online school, students need:

Reliable internet access, an appropriate computer or Chromebook, headphones or earbuds, a suitable place to complete coursework, and basic school supplies.

Chromebooks may be available for eligible students to borrow. Device availability and loan requirements will be explained during enrollment.

A smartphone alone may not be sufficient for completing all coursework.

State Testing

Students are required to participate in applicable state assessments.

Although regular coursework is completed online, some testing may take place at an approved in-person location.

Families and adult learners will receive testing dates, locations, and instructions in advance.

What Happens After You Apply?

After your application is submitted, the enrollment team will review your information and documents.

The next steps may include:

  • Confirming eligibility and residency
  • Requesting missing academic records
  • Determining grade placement or remaining diploma requirements
  • Completing an enrollment meeting
  • Providing orientation and technology information
  • Confirming the student’s start date

Submitting an application does not automatically complete enrollment. All required information and steps must be completed before a student can begin.
